Our Team

Julia - Top DogJulia O'Gorman

As a lifetime dog lover, seeing my passion become my career is truly special, and seeing happy owners and happy dogs every day makes the job even more worth it.

I wanted to make our centre personal because we provide personal experiences for every dog lover, so I named our place after my beloved best friends Rags (Regan is his full name) and Bert. You can catch me spending my spare time walking along the river with my husband as Rags and Bert follow along enjoying the views.

I have two dogs who, as you can guess, our doggy day care centre is named after. We got Rags (Regan) our Golden Retriever with his brother Archie from Stokenchurch dog rescue when they were just under a year old, he is now 10 years old.  We’ve had Bert our 11-year-old Black Labrador for almost 4 years.  He was a friend of Rags when we lived near Essex. When Rag's brother passed away Bert came to retire to the country with us and has been Rags companion ever since.
In my spare time, I love spending time outdoors with Rags, Bert & my husband. I  particularly love river walks & ancient forests. When I finally get a moment to myself I really enjoy craft; weaving, crochet, sewing.

Maddy - Assistant Manager - Dog Trainer & Behaviourist

I have always loved dogs, I think growing up with two Newfoundland’s influenced the affinity I have with animals. I began working with animals at the age of thirteen; voluntarily working with horses. This inspired me to pursue an education and career in the animal industry. I began working with dogs in 2008 and have since worked a variety of roles within the sector, including grooming salons, animal boarding and rescue centres. To support the skills and knowledge I learnt from working in the industry, I dedicated five years to becoming educated in the field.

Throughout my life I have trained a variety of animals, including meerkats and horses. However, my passion lies in training dogs. My labradoodle Eddie helped develop this passion and whilst on my degree, I trained him in advanced assistance. This involved training a series of small behaviours and chaining them under one cue. He can now unload your washing machine for you and help you hang your clothes on the line! Since then I have trained and modified dog behaviour for a variety of subjects and breeds including obedience, combatting problems, fun tricks and scent work. I have previously worked in roles which require assessing dog behaviour and implementing training decisions. I am now able to put these skills to good use in helping dogs and their owners.

I love working for Rags & Bert's which enables owners to be happy in the knowledge, their dogs have somewhere to play and stay when needed. I love being part of a team which helps to improve the welfare of dogs through socialisation, mental and physical stimulation and exceptional standards of care.

Martin - Dog BuddyMartin with dog on play equipment

I have worked with animals all my life having grown up on a farm.  I love working with dogs as they are incredibly expressive.  It's a joy to be able to work with lots of dogs with different personalities.

I get a real sense of satisfaction working at Rags & Bert's - creating a happy space where dogs can enjoy themselves and learn to have fun playing safely together.

My family own three dogs but unfortunately, at the moment I don't have my own dog as I'm in rented accommodation.

When I'm not working at Rags & Bert's you'll find me playing my guitar.  I started playing when I was 13 and it's still one of my favourite past times.  When I get the chance I love to travel, I especially enjoy hiking and camping.

Karolina - Dog Groomer

Karolina GroomingI inherited my love for dogs from my parents who were always saying that a house isn’t really a home without a dog. My parents bred Great Danes and taking care of them brought me lots of happiness. Since then I knew that I had to find a way to make it my career.

I started my dog grooming career as an apprentice of a Certified Master Dog Groomer at Continental Dog Grooming, Connecticut, USA.   During this time, I quickly learned skills in trimming, shaping and hand stripping of a canine coat.

Afterwards, I moved to Toronto, Canada where I was hired by one of the best grooming salons in the city.  My skills were greatly appreciated by many clients, including celebrities such as Eugene Levy and Kelly Rowan.

With my 7 years of experience, I feel comfortable and confident with my skills and I’m sure that I can meet the high standards of my clients. I have experience of working with all kinds of dog breeds and have the ability to calm and control nervous dogs with patience and a soothing approach.

The best thing about working at Rag’s and Bert’s are my four legged clients, as well as a wonderful team of people who share a huge love for dogs and are devoted to their well-being. The place itself is very spacious and airy, which makes working there very pleasant.

In my spare time, I love to be outside with nature and particularly love going for hikes.  I also enjoy a good movie and an interesting book.
