Try Our Latest Walk: Mapledurham Circular
We’re excited to share one of our favourite local walks — the Mapledurham Circular. This scenic route is a regular go-to for one of our team here at Rags & Bert’s, and we think you’ll love it just as much.
Winding through peaceful woodland and open meadows, this walk offers a perfect mix of shade, space, and natural beauty — ideal for a relaxed afternoon with your dog. And if you head out soon, you’ll still catch some of the last bluebells of the season adding a touch of magic to the trail.
Whether you’re in the mood for a gentle ramble or simply looking for a change of scenery, this well-trodden path is a lovely option. The walk is about 3 miles with a hill - taking about an hour to complete with your pup if you are allowing them time to explore.
Here's the directions for you:
- Park in the church car park at Mapledurham
- Walk back up the way you came, checking which buildings you recognise from 'The Eagle has Landed'
- When you get to the red phone box, you can choose left or right. I go to the left as there are fields for your dog to run off some steam.
- After 100 yards or so, there is a kissing gate up a few steps, turn into a field.
- The main path is to the right of the field, but Mapledurham don't mind where you walk as long as there are no sheep.
- Work your way up the long field between two woods until you get to a kissing gate at the top
- There is another shorter field to get to the top. There is a horse trough for your dog to drink from (or jump in) on the right
- After you go through the kissing gate at the top, keep turning right, keeping the farm and farmhouse to your right
- There is a long concrete road with the odd car until you pass the Anaerobic Digestion (approx. 1 mile)
- Keep going to a junction, where there is a kissing gate to your right through the field
- Take that to get to the wood. In the spring, the display of bluebells is stunning. Watch out for stupid pheasants in July
- Keep on that path as you work downwards through the wood, passing the Mapledurham Folly
- At the bottom is another kissing gate, with the path continuing through the field. Watch out for cows in the summer
- When you get back to the concrete path, you should see the red telephone box to your right
- When you get back to the red box, turn left to go to your car
- You can walk about 1 mile longer by sticking to the concrete path and not dropping through the woods. Turning right and stay on the concrete path, turning right again at the bungalow. You pass the farm and have a view of the back of the house to your left. Keep straight on until you get to the Telephone box
