This International Women’s Day, we’re incredibly proud to shine a spotlight on the woman behind Rags & Bert’s - our founder and owner, Julia.
What started as an idea built on passion, determination and a love for dogs has grown into a thriving, trusted business - and now, as we prepare to open our brand-new Farnborough branch, it feels like the perfect moment to celebrate the journey so far.
From Vision to Reality
When Julia founded Rags & Bert’s, her vision was simple but powerful: to create a safe, enriching, and genuinely joyful environment for dogs, and a workplace built on care, trust and teamwork.
Like many business journeys, the early days came with challenges. Building a company from the ground up requires resilience, belief and no small amount of courage. But through hard work and a clear sense of purpose, that original vision has grown into something truly special.
Today, Rags & Bert’s is not just a doggy daycare - it’s a community.

Growth, Expansion and a New Chapter
One of Julia’s proudest moments has been seeing how far the business has come, and now, with the opening of our new Farnborough site, that growth continues.
This expansion marks an exciting new chapter. It reflects the strength of the team, the loyalty of our clients, and the reputation Rags & Bert’s has built for high-quality care and genuine passion. For Julia, Farnborough isn’t just another site, it’s a sign of what’s possible when vision is matched with perseverance.
The Power of Support
International Women’s Day is about recognising achievement. but also, about acknowledging the importance of support.
Julia is the first to say that no one builds a business alone. At pivotal moments in her journey, encouragement and belief from others made a real difference. Those experiences have shaped the way she now leads, with generosity, trust and a commitment to helping others grow.
As a female founder, she understands the value of lifting others up. Whether it’s creating opportunities, offering encouragement, or simply making space for someone’s voice to be heard, she believes small actions can have a big impact.
Leading with Purpose
When asked what International Women’s Day means to her, Julia reflects on both progress and possibility. It’s about celebrating how far women in business have come, while recognising that continued support, confidence and collaboration are key to moving forward.
Her advice to other women starting out? Believe in your vision, don’t be afraid to take up space, and remember that growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.

Proud of the Team, Passionate About the Future
Above all, Julia says the best part of leading Rags & Bert’s is the team. Watching staff grow in confidence, build relationships with the dogs and support one another is what makes the hard work worthwhile.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day and look ahead to the opening of Farnborough, we’re reminded that successful businesses aren’t just built on ideas - they’re built on people, resilience and heart.
And at the centre of Rags & Bert’s is a founder who embodies all three.
- Here’s to strong women.
